The Google Pixel 4 and 4 XL were formalized on October 15, 2019. The two new smartphones rely on interesting assets such as an OLED screen with Motion Sense technology that allows you to control them without touching the screen. The latter also offers a refresh rate of 90 Hz. Here is everything you need to know about the new Pixel 4 and 4 XL.

More than other brands, the leaks around Google smartphones have always taken a particular turn. Like the Google Pixel 3 and Pixel 3 XL, photos of functional prototypes of Google Pixel 4 and Pixel 4 XL appeared on the web months before the officialization of the two smartphones. Google ended recess on October 15, 2019 by officially introducing them.

  • Google Pixel 4 and 4 XL: the design

Let’s start with the Google Pixel 4 XL which has a design that stands out quite clearly from its predecessor. On the top, the smartphone has a wider border, but no notch, unlike the Pixel 3 XL last year. At the bottom of the smartphone, however, the edges are slightly thinner. As for the Google Pixel 4 standard, it shares the same design as the large version. Only the size of the screen and the dimensions distinguish them.

In the back, the Pixels 4 and 4 XL also present a significant change. The two rear sensors are now housed in a square module in the upper left corner. Finally, the two smartphones are available in three colors: black, white and pink. They have a glass hull and an aluminum frame.

  • 90 Hz display with Motion Sense technology

These are two major new features found on the Google Pixel 4 and 4 XL. Their screen has a refresh rate of 90 Hz. Few smartphones have this feature. Also note that to limit the impact of this feature on autonomy, Google offers a system to dynamically switch from 60 to 90 Hz depending on the needs.

As for Motion Sense technology, it allows you to control both smartpones with gestures without having to touch the touch screen. It is thanks to the radar that one finds at the level of the frontal sensors.

  • Google Pixel 4 and 4 XL: the novelties of the photo part

The photo part is the aspect on which Pixels have always shined, even the Pixel 3a and Pixel 3a XL midrange . As mentioned above, the Pixels 4 and 4 XL have two photo sensors in the back arranged in a square module that also comes with the flash. This is the first time that Google offers two sensors back on a pixel. The brand had so far counted on its mastery of software processing not to embark on the race to the number of sensors like other manufacturers.

Both modules have a capacity of 16 + 12 MP. You can find the complete characteristics in the table of the technical sheet presented a little higher. For selfies, we go from a double sensor of 8 + 8 MP to a single sensor of 8 MP.

  • Pixel 4 and Pixel 4 XL: release date

The Google Pixel 4 is sold in France from € 769 for the 64 GB version. The Pixel 4 XL meanwhile is available from € 899, or € 50 less than the launch price of the Pixel 3 XL. last year. Google has not yet announced the price of 128 GB versions. As for the release date, it is fixed in UK in October 2019.
